About Font Detection

How does AI font detection work?
Our tool uses Groq's Llama Vision AI model to analyze the visual characteristics of text in your image. The AI examines letterforms, stroke widths, serifs, x-height, spacing, and overall typographic style to identify the font family, weight, and style.
What types of images work best?
Best results come from: (1) High-resolution screenshots of websites or apps, (2) Logo images with clear text, (3) Print designs or posters, (4) UI mockups. The text should be clearly visible and not heavily distorted, rotated, or overlaid with complex backgrounds.
Can it detect custom or rare fonts?
The AI can identify most popular commercial and free fonts. For rare or custom fonts, it will identify the closest matching font family and provide similar alternatives. It works best with widely-used fonts from Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, and major type foundries.
Is my image stored on your servers?
Your image is sent directly to Groq's API for analysis and is not stored on our servers. Groq's data retention policies apply during the API call. The image is processed in real-time and the result is returned to you immediately.
How accurate is the font detection?
Accuracy varies by image quality and font popularity. For common fonts like Helvetica, Arial, Times New Roman, Georgia and popular Google Fonts, accuracy is very high (85-95%). For similar-looking fonts or low-quality images, the AI will indicate its confidence level and suggest alternatives.
